Masters student
Joined the lab: January 2025
Background and Current Projects:
I am a Master’s student in Biochemistry visiting from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Germany to complete my Master´s thesis. Before joining the Hollfelder Lab as an intern in January 2025, I gained experience in different topics ranging from natural products to metabolic and enzyme engineering. During my Bachelor's thesis at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry in Halle, I worked in Dr. Norbert Arnold’s group, where I extracted and elucidated the structure of fungicidal compounds produced by Sepedonium laevigatum.
At the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig, I worked in Prof. Bruno Bühler’s lab, where I focused on establishing new enzyme cascades in cyanobacteria. During an internship in Prof. Dr. Pablo Nikel’s group at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at DTU Copenhagen, I further expanded my knowledge in metabolic and enzyme engineering by implementing new mutagenesis tools in Pseudomonas putida. I am excited to complete my Master’s studies in the Hollfelder Lab by exploring the evolvability of imine reductases (IREDs) through multiround directed evolution campaigns, utilizing both substitution and insertion/deletion (InDel) libraries.
Interests: I enjoy a wide range of sports, from table tennis to skiing. Since arriving in Cambridge, I’ve taken up rowing, which I find great fun. Beyond sports, I have a strong interest in nature, particularly in plants and fungi.
